Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Programme assisted by DANIDA (The Danish International Development Assistance) was aimed at providing hygienic drinking water and sanitation to the villages. The Government of Karnataka implemented the project and named it ‘Jalanidhi’. We played the role of a facilitator in mobilising, community building and training the community based organisations. |

We fixed water meter in Hebballi village to each house. This was our own initiative which was appreciated throughout Karnataka. |

Karnataka is having more than 36,000 tanks which are used for drinking, irrigational and other human and animal needs. However, most of the tanks are drying up or the water in it is being polluted making the water either not fit for drinking or very unusable. This was happening due to poor or no management of water resources. This resulted in the poor health and hygiene that directly affected the life of the people who depended on tanks for their needs. Government of Karnataka wanted to bring back the tanks to their original state and make the lives of the people be revived. |
