| Area Groups |
Area Groups are the groups of the farmers that come under particular area of any watershed project. These groups are responsible for the effective implementation and completion of the watershed activities like soil and water conservation, drainage line treatment, waste weir, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, fodder development, income-generating activities etc. |

Structure and Functioning |
The group takes up the responsibility and organizes meetings every week. They also collect contribution from the farmers for the particular activity. One representative from each area group becomes a member of the executive committee of that particular micro-watershed. Like SHGs, these groups also do the savings and are linked with the banks. They take internal loans and bank loans as well. Even after the completion of the watershed project, they are meant to continue their functioning. NISARGA will hand hold them economically and socially as long as they are functioning |
